Church in Israel attacked

THE Christian Churches were bitterly assailed during an "anti-mission" rally in Israel, last week. when speakers lauded the action of young fanatics who staged anti-Christian demonstrations last month at six Catholic and Protestant schools in Haifa, Jerusalem and Tel Aviv-Jaffa.

The rally, held in Jerusalem, was sponsored by Hever Hapeilim extremist Orthodox movement which organised last month's attacks on the schools. Israeli government officials belonging to ultra-Orthodox Jewish religious parties took part in it.

Kalman Kahana, Deputy Minister of Education and Culture, accused the Israeli government of not having enough courage or Jewish pride to forbid missionary activity.

He told the crowd — estimated at about 1,000, mainly youngsters: " I fear Jews are showing the same blindness they showed during the holocaust when they did not do all in their power to rescue Jews from Hitlerdom."
