Malton sends aid for Poland

THANKS TO Doctor .1 R Hayes and good people of the combined churches of Malton, Norton and district, North Yorkshire, medical aid worth £50,000 is being sent to The Children's Hospital at Lodz, Poland.

Much help was'given by local transport firms to collect donations of drugs,. hospital equipment and clothing from individuals, local hospitals, general practitioners and companies and pharmaceutical manufacturers, a truly local team effort.

The collected goods are being packed today at the Vicarage, Malmo, ar the home of the organiser, Mrs E. Treasure.

The containers go to The Ockenden Venture who have helped with the transport arrangements to Poland, one container via Harwich, and one via Hamburg.

In Lodz the consignments will be received by the Ecclesiastical Charity Commissioners and handed over to the Professor of Medicine at the Children's Hospital in the presence of Michael and Barbara Greenwood of Leavening.

In medical terms Poland is a Third World nation, relying on gifts for 40 per cent of her life saving medical supplies for babies and small children.
