THE FORTY MARTYRS

2nd anniversary TO-DAY (Friday) Feast of the English and Welsh Martyrs, is the second anniversary of the resumption of the canonisation cause of the "Forty". A Bulletin from the London Office of the Vice Postulation lists a number of pilgrimages which will take place this summer.

Those to take place this month include:

MAY 6: Pilgrimage in honour of the three Carthusian Martyrs at Parkminstcr, England's only Charterhouse. After a visit to the Charterhouse at 2.30 p.m. pilgrims will go on to West Grinstead for Pontifical Benediction, MAY lit Pilgrimage to Adlington Hall, Cheshire, home of the Legh family and of the uncle of 131. Ambrose Barlow, Pilgrims meet at Aytoun Street at fi p.m.

MAY 12: Martyrs' Exhibition at the Sacred Heart Convent, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Convent pupils will present a play on the life of B!. Margaret Clitherow and a Tableau of the Forty' Martyrs.

MAY 27: Bishop Cowderoy will lead the Augustinian pilgrimage to Canterbury in honour of 141, John 'Stone. The Bishop will sing High Mass at 12.30 p.m, in the Dane John; Fr. J. B. O'Donohue OSA will preach.
