Fr. Arthur Prentice, doyen of the English Province of the White Fathers. celebrated his 90th birthday this week at the Provincial House in London. A convert at 21, he subsequently lived at Barnet where he was organist for several years. He joined the White Fathers in 1897, was ordained in 1903. After a year in Rome where he was present at the enthronement of St. Pius X, he was appointed to Uganda. He came home in 1921 for the beatification of the Uganda Martyrs and remained in England teaching for six years, returning to Uganda in 1927. Still active, he says Mass every morning at 7.30 a.m. Birthday celebrations? Yes, a day out with his elder sister (she is 91).
