SIR, Further to the excellent articles upon Catholic education problems appearing in your pages, there seems to be no mention of the technical and further education of Catholic boys and girls. In this age of increasing technical .skille and progress Catholic youth needs this training if it is to attain to its share of appointments in this particular field.
Only in very rare circumstances can the Catholic body provide this educational need: therefore our youth must gain this knowledge and training in the county and and State technical colleges. Lately we have had appeals for the organisation and support of Catholics in the universities but the thousands of Catholic students in the technical colleges are apparently left to themselves.
Other denominations are looking after the spiritual good of their
young people in such colleges. and even in apprenticeship schools in large works. There is an urgent need for similar action for Catholic boys and girls to be undertaken by us.
