NEW NUNCIOS FOR LISBON, MADRID

Loss for Ireland and Australia TRELAND and Australia have 1 this week both lost their Papal Nuncios. Pope John has Archbishop de transferred Archbishop Ribieri, Fuerstenberg. for the past three years Papal Nuncio in Dublin to Madrid;

Archbishop de Fuerstenberg for the past two and a half years Papal Nuncio to Australia. New Zealand and Oceania, goes to Lisbon.

Both Nuncios replace Archbishops who last month were named as Cardinals by Pope John and will now work in the Curia. Cardinal Antoniutti served in Madrid, and Cardinal Panico in Lisbon.

Dutch-born Archbishop de Fuerstenberg is 57.

Archbishcip Ribieri, born in Monte Carlo, is 64. He has served as a Papal Diplomat since three years after his ordination. He was first attached to the Nunciature in La Paz, Bolivia, and from 1930-34 served in the Dublin Nunciature. In 1934 he was named Apostolic Delegate to Mombasa and Titular Archbishop of Dara.

In 1946 the Archbishop became Internuncio to China where after much harrying and finally some months held under house arrest, he was expelled by the Communists in 1951 under a government decree of "perpetual banishment".
