Fr. Patrick McCartney, curate at St. Malachy's, Liverpool, was commended by the Liverpool Coroner (Mn. G. C Mort), at an inquest on a 73 years old
woman who died from burns. Fr. McCartney was walking along Beaufort Street when he saw the woman standing in a doorway with her clothing in flames. He rushed to her aid and extinguished the flames by wrapping his coat tightly around her.
