SON OF THE SOVIET-EAST
A TADJIK peasant is called up to fight for the U.S.S.R. lie says goodbye to his village in a picturesque ceremony which includes a traditional dance by his fiancee leading the procession to the river where his boat is wailing. You next see him in the Soviet army, where the note sounded is a purely national one, and he goes out to fight for love or the Black Sea. W1-111 a commentary rather like a solemn lathe telling his children bow naughty they have been and see how God punishes those who get dictators to boss them about, the latest March of Time gets in some vivid shots of Italy liberated. Final sequence is the execution of Pietro Caruso limping out of the van on crutches to face the execution squad with a young Italian priest, wa.ling beside him to the end—for even the Pietro Carusos of this world have souls.
