Congratulations For Mgr. Griffin

Several hundred messages of congratulation on Mgr. Griffins elevation to the Cardinalate have been received at Archbishop's House. They include messages from distinguished ecclesiastics in the Church of England, leaders of the Jewish Community and also from the Prime Minister, Home Secretary, and Minister of Education. Mother Agnes, Sister of St. Teresa of Liseux, also sent a special message of congratulation.

Towards the end of the month Mgr. Griffin. Archbishop of Westminster, will leave London for Rome, where he will await the message announcing his elevation to the Sacred College of Cardinals. Immediately following the Secret Consistory, which will precede the notification of the new Cardinals, a further Consistory will be held at which the Red Hats will he imposed and each Cardinal will be assigned to his titular Roman parish.

It is expected that the Solemn Reception of the Cardinal-Archbishop of Westminster will take place in Westminster Cathedral, in March. The receptions to the clergy and laity will follow, probably after Easter.
