THE POPE ON NEWSREELS

By Our Pilot Correspondent

The News Theatres arc showing an excellent " reel " this week of the Pope holding his now historic audience with -the thousands of British and Allied soldiers shortly after their entry into Rome, The Holy Father is shown being carried through the reverently kneeling throngs of soldiers blessing them as he passes, then walks energetically to the throne from where he speaks to the soldiers in English.

After the address and after once again blessing them—and their loved ones in England—the soldiers are seen Surging round him in an excited, enthusiastic crowd, seizing his hand to kiss his ring.

The Holy Father beams delightedly and is obviously much moved at the demonstration of affection from this vast crowd of Catholic men.
