Defend The Holy Places Bishop Tells Ex-Servicemen

NOTTINGHAM.

Mgr. Ellis, Bishop of Nottingham, has called specially on the ex-Service men of his diocese to take up the fight for the safeguarding of Jerusalem and the Holy Places in Palestine according to the mind of the Pope. " You are Christian soldiers before all," said the Bishop, " If you are to uphold in the long run what is right, proper and Christian you must bear in mind the places where the Founder of our Faith lived and redeemed mankind. The Holy Places for which soldiers of Christian nations have fought for centuries,

" Some form of international govermnent should now be given to them and freedom of access to the Holy Places both in Jerusalem and Nazareth and Bethlehem and other sacred spots accorded," said the Bishop.
