HOPWOOD Hall, the college of higher education run by the De La Salle Brothers in Manchester. is to run degree courses to honours level from next year. The Secretary of State for Education and Science last week gave approval for the award of honours in the. BA and BSc. degrees offered by the college and validated by Manchester University. It already runs courses for the Bachelor of Education degree with honours.
Formerly a teacher training college. Hopwood Hall has expanded to include arts, science and technology degree studies which do not include a teaching component.
From September 1982. honours can be awarded in degrees in religious studies. geography, biology. history and English. The courses are open to men and women.
