"Meagre" Hull

Ministry Recommends More Parks

The Minister of Health has informed the Hull Corporation that he considers that the provision for public and private open spaces, under the town-planning scheme for the northern and western divisions of the city and neighbouring areas, is " meagre."

He suggests that the corporation should reserve much more extensive portions, and indicates for the purpose a large tract of land which includes Brantingham Dale. The Dale is a popular resort of motorists and cyclists from klull.

Hull Public Assistance

Before the House rose for the Christmas recess Mr. WINDSOR asked the Minister of Health the total number of persons in the city of Hull in receipt of public assistance? In his reply the minister (Sir Kingsley Wood) said that, including dependents but excluding rate-aided patients in mental hospitals, persons in receipt of domiciliary medical relief only and casuals, the number on Saturday, December 7, was 22,549.

FEW UNEMPLOYED JOIN UP

Unemployed youths and men in Leeds are not impressed by the prospects of an army career. Of the recruits recently enrolled in the city over 80 per cent. relinquished employment to enter the army.
