CALLES RETURNS FROM ABROAD Cardenas Government Not Comfortable

The Mexican government is said to be somewhat alarmed at the return of General Calks, the former president, who began and sustained the anti-Christian persecution.

It is thought that the return of Calles, who has been abroad for six .months, is not unconnected with the results of the general policy of the present government, which has dismissed four provincial governors thought to be supporters of the expresident.

President Cardenas, who received the support of Calles in his election, is showing a tendency to move further towards the "left," and in interviews Calles has criticised the Cardenas government as "leading the country to Communism."
