FATHERS
THE accent was on fathers when the men of the Liverpool. Salford and Shrewsbury dioceses who organise parties for spiritual retreats met during the week-end at Loyola Hall, Rainhill, to plan the programme for the Ignatian Year-this year.
Fr. Peter Blake, the Superior, said that even greater efforts will be made to get men to carry out in their lives the dynamic teachings of St. Ignatius in his Spiritual Exercises.
" Accentuate the positive," said Fr. Blake, " rather than the more negative steps of denouncing divorce and birth-prevention.
" God is the Living God: accentuate Life.
" We need a Family Crusade to put Life into the men, women and children, of this country.
" This means Giving Father His Place-and there's a place for him at Loyola Hall.
" We want to tackle this family problem at its head. So start with Father. Make the whole family retreat-conscious."
Fr. Blake urges a new Housewives' Choice : " A Loyola retreat for their menfolk."
