JESUIT PROVINCIAL ARRESTED

The General of the Society of Jesus has received word in Rome of the arrest of the Society's Provincial in Warsaw. Also arrested were his secretary and the national director of the Polish Sodalities of Our Lady.

The National Provincial was Fr. Bulanda and his secretary Fr. Ziolkowski. The director of the Sodalities is Fr. Nawroski.

The three priests were reported as having been arrested for failing to observe the recent Government regulations calling for the dissolution of all religious congregations in Poland.

Five monks and nurses were sentenced to prison terms of two to seven years in a Wroclaw (Breslau) court over last week-end after they had been "convicted" of maltreating inmates of a children's home at Namyslow.

The Polish internal news, heard iu Frankfurt, said that three priests. one nun and a young nurse, were all found guilty of all the crimes with which they were charged.

Prior Wincent Florczak, head of the Namyslow institution, was sentenced to seven years,
