Pope and Secretary of State Choose their Rooms

From Our Own Correspondent

ROME.

The Holy Father has decided that the room where Pope Pius XI died shall be converted into the Pope's private chapel, whilst the room which was formerly the chapel will now become the Pope's bedroom. This new arrangement is not new: it was so under Pope Benedict XV.

Cardinal Maglione, the Secretary of State, has as his office the Borgia apartment, familiar to visitors to the Vatican museums.

This arrangement for the Secretary of State is not new either. Under Pius X, for the first few months of the Pontificate, the Cardinal Secretary of State lived there, and Cardinal Merry del Val lived there for some time.
