The Lancashire and Cheshire scheme for an organised centre for the sale of coal which was introduced last July has proved such a success that many of those who opposed its introduction have been cornpletely won over.
A report which has been issued by the Board of Trade points out that although the organisation of central selling is still quite undeveloped and will not be perfected for many years, the Lancashire and Cheshire colliery-owners have made a valuable contribution to the solution of the coal problem.
Increased revenue and sales cannot be expected until existing contracts have expired and mine-owners are free to devote all their energies to furthering the scheme.
