PROFIT-SHARING IN INDUSTRY Workers Paid £1,000,000 In Forty-Four Years

An example of the success of profitsharing in industry is provided by Messrs. J. T. and J. Taylor, Limited, woollen manufacturers, Batley, who employ 1,600 workpeople.
Since the scheme was started 44 years ago the employees have received in dividends, bonus shares, etc., over a million pounds, and they now own more than three-quarters of the capital.
The dividends on capital have averaged 11 per cent. and the bonus on wages nearly 9 per cent.
At the annual meeting of the company Mr. T. C. Taylor announced a dividend of 10 per cent. and a labour bonus in new shares of 5 per cent., or 10 per cent. in the case of the great majority of the employees, who, under the terms of the scheme, are entitled to double bonus.
