The centre party in the Chamber met last week under the presidency of M. Mundeleer, to discuss the government's proposal to fix the date of the elections in October.
M. du Bus de Warnaffe, Minister of the Interior, explained the case for the government. But his arguments were not accepted and the proposal was rejected by three votes to one. There were three abstentions.
