Unofficial Aunts' Decision

The Introduction Of "Uncles"

" Aunts," wrote a schoolboy once, " are of two kinds: one kind stings and the other gives sticky kisses and calls you ' darling.'"

Manchester has another kind: a voluntary association of ladies who call themselves unofficial aunts. These ladies take upon themselves the work of visiting the bedridden and the sick.

The unofficial aunts held their annual meeting in Manchester last week, and they have decided to extend opportunities of unofficial relationship to men by forming a group of unofficial uncles. They think that some of the old men they visit would appreciate a little male society now and again.
