Ukrainians In Czechoslovakia

A Promise To Be Fulfilled ?

According to reports the new president of the Czechoslovak council, Dr. Hodza, has made an important declaration on the subject of the autonomy of the Ukrainians of the Podkarpatska Rus, which was promised by the Czechoslovak government at the time of the proclamation of the republic. Mr. Hodza said: " It has been up to the present impossible to realise this autonomy and this has been recognised by the interested parties, but I am firmly decided to give to Podkarpatska Rus a special statute as foreshadowed by the treaties and the Czechoslovak constitution."
