Underground Church of St. Pius at Lourdes

THE Holy Father has sent 2,000,000 francs to Bishop Thews of Tarbes and Lourdes towards the construction of an underground church near the Lourdes Grotto. It is to be dedicated to Pope St. Pius X and will seat 20,000 people.
His Holiness expressed a wish that Lourdes pilgrims all over the world will send gifts.
The scheme has been approved by the Pilgrimage Directors meeting in Paris under the chairmanship of Cardinal Feltin, and by M. Vago, Lourdes' chief architect.
British, French, German, Italian and Luxembourg doctors 26 in all — have examined three cures believed to have been obtained miraculously at the Grotto, and last week declared that they are beyond medical explanation.
The three cases will now go the ecclesiastical authorities for decision.
