uniformity at First Holy Communion tine your correspondent Joan Lindberg presents.

Thank God our children dress as they and their parents think appropriate when they come to Mass for their First Holy Communion. We in Britain belong o a free society, we are not egirnented by a repressive dicatorship. The Church is a benevolent mother, not aState police system. We do not hare to be afraid of how we lookwe are able to be ourselves. Ve show much more respect to Almighty God, and to thefarnily of our parish to whichwe belong, if we dress as w( think it best for us to dres for various occasions and ot according to some severe authoritarian rule.

Yours faithfuly, JOHN BATE Oxford.
