D'Souza opens Teresa inquiry
THE INQUIRY into the cause for the beatification of Mother Teresa was opened on Monday by Archbishop Henry D'Souza of Calcutta.
Archbishop D'Souza said that the inquiry could take up to a year.
As well as hearing evidence of miracles in India, the United States and the Middle East, the inquiry will investigate allegations that Mother Teresa took money for her work from Haitian ruler "Baby Doc" Duvalier and the late publisher Robert Maxwell.
Proof of one miracle is needed for beatification and a second is required for canonisation.
