Gay witness

From the liturgy coordinator of the Roman Catholic Caucus of the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement SIR — Although quoted in your report (Jan 23) on the Mass for lesbian and gay Catholics, I would like to clarify that I did not in fact speak to a Catholic Herald reporter on this matter. Had I done so, I might have been able to ensure greater clar ity. Although the Mass is currently sponsored by the Roman Catholic Caucus of the Lesbian and Gay Christian Movement, very few of those who attend are members of either the Caucus or any other lesbian and gay Catholic organisation.
In this respect it fulfils one of our aims: to witness to the Christian faith within the lesbian and gay community and to witness to our convictions about human sexuality within the Church. Enabling such pastoral and sacramental ministry is at the heart of our commitment to evangelisation.
I should also like to emphasise that the Mass at Notre Dame de France is for the February 1 only. We resume at St Anne’s Church, Dean Street, Soho on February 15.
Yours faithfully, MARTIN PENDERGAST London E9
