SEPARATIST BASQUE HOMAGE TO THE POPE

Barcelona leader Broadcasts on Religion

Broadcasting from Barcelona this week, Sr. Jose de Aguirre, President of the Separatist Basque Government, stated that the Pope. stood against the

" ant i-Christian, anti-human and tyrannical tendencies of the totalitarian regimes." The subject of religion in Spain was also dealt with by Sr. Aguirre.

" G.O.M. OF THE VATICAN " Addressing himself to the Pope. Sr. Aguirre said :

"Now let me, from Barcelona, as President of the Basque Government, as a Catholic, thanking God again to-day for the faith He has given me, and in which 1 wish to die, let me send to the grand old man of the Vatican heartfelt and respectful homage for his defence of human dignity, which he wages by his words and conduct against the antiChristian, anti-human, and tyrannical tendencies of the totalitarian regimes."
