Sir John St. George died on December 21 at his residence, Harcourt, Sutton, Surrey, at the age of 87. He was the son of Sir Theophilus St. George, of Woodsgift, Co. Kilkenny, and succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his half-brother, the fourth baronet, in 1861, RA a boy of 10. His brother, Arthur St. George, is now holder of the title.
After education at Oscott College and at Trinity College, Dublin, Sir John St. George held a sub-lieutenant's commission in the 18th Royal Irish Regiment, transferring, some years later, as lieutenant, to the 71st H.L.I. He retired in 1882. Lady St. George, who predeceased him, was Rose, daughter of thc late Sir George Berkley.
The interment took place privately.
