The Pope received Mgr. Godfrey, Archbishop of Cius, and Apostolic Delegate to England, after his consecration, and presented him with a pectoral cross of gold set with topazes.

Mgr. Godfrey will leave for London at the end of January. He will be in Rome during the visit of Mr Chamberlain and Lord Halifax.

Dr. von Bergen, the German Ambassador to the Holy See, was received in audience by the Pope this week, after the Pope's Christmas allocution reported on this page.

The question of the Church in Germany was discussed.
