We are happy to leave this week's column in the capable, if young, hands of ten-years-old David Braithwaite, a pupil of St Patrick's Junior, Middle and Infant School, Durham, who wrote down his ideas of happiness for his teacher, in words that
speak for themselves.
Happiness is my Mother
MY MOTHER is the most wonderful mam in the world. If I ever have a worry I always tell tier. My mam is a hard worker, she cleans up the house and sometimes goes to work, and still tidies the house up. My mam is also well natured and very patient with Aidan, Laura and I. She comes in every night when we are in bed asleep, and gives us all a kiss. If my mam has a programme to watch, and I'm watching one, she will let me watch my programme. My mam usually gives us a biscuit before we go to bed. She is a treasure. I could riot do without her. I hope I die before my mam, because my life would be a misery without her.
Mr Connor's main said, 'You can get a sweetheart any day, but you can't get another mother'. I agree, because God only gives you one mother to love with all your heart.
Happiness is my Brother Aidan
I HAVE a playful brother aged six, his name is Aidan. We have fun fights together with James and Graham. We play on our bikes together and we always play cards with each other, we play with our He-Man figures together. I read him stories, we do a lot together. When there is a fight involving a gang and myself Aidan will always be at my side. I love my brother Aidan. I think he is the best brother in the world. I tell him exciting stories to send him off to sleep. I hope we're always together even if I live in London and he lives in Scotland. I will always love Aidan.
Happiness is my Sister Laura
MY SISTER Laura is the best sister in the whole wide world. She is very clever, she knows how to catch a ball, and play on the Atari. She'll smack me and Aidan immediately we've been naughty, but inside her she's soft and gentle. If you cry she'll come over and she'll be very kind to you.
She's also funny. One day my nana came in and Laura shouted "I want to sit on your knee". Then my mam said "can I sit on your knee please", but our Laura not understanding what my mam meant said "No, I want to sit on nana's knee."
She really is a wonderful girl and she gives me happiness all the time. She cuddles me in bed and says "My bairn" then she goes to sleep very quickly.
I agree with that Folosafa who said "people bring you more happiness than any other thing in the world," for there's no way you can buy the love of a wonderful three year old girl and that's what I have.
Happiness is my Dad
MY DAD is the best dad in the world. If he wins on the horses he will always think of Aidan, Laura, mam and 1 before himself.
My dad is always playing tricks on us. He has fun fights with us, but if we get into any trouble he will stick up for us.
My dad sometimes takes me out jogging with him. My dad sometimes lets me get up at nights when Aidan and Laura go to sleep, and sometimes dad lets me and Aidan get up when Laura goes to sleep.
Sometimes he lets all of us get up.
My dad nearly always has a smile on his face. I love my dad and I hope he lives till he is 140 years old, and still looks young. I am a lucky boy indeed, because I have such a wonderful dad.
