FR. P. HICKEY, O.F.M.

A FORMER PROVINCIAL A former head ot the English Province of the Franciscan Minors, Very Rev. Peter Hickey, O.F.M.. died at St. Josepb's Hospital, Whalley Range, Manchester, on Wednesday of last week, He was 73.

A native of Kilfinney Co. Limerick, Eire, he was educated in Eire and Manchester, receiving the habit in Killarney more than 56 years ago, when that House of the Ordci was under the English Province.

Ordained 51 years ago, he was Provincial of England from 1911 to 1915, and was a former Father Gualdian at Gorton Monastery, Manchester, Glasgow, and Stratford London. He was a member of the old Gorton Education Authority before that body was ahsorbed by Manchester.

Solemn Dirge was sung at Gorton Friary on Tuestley, and on Wednesday Bishop Marshall presided at Solemn Requiem Mass, sung hy the Father Provincial, prior to the interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Moston,
