Going bananas

CHRISTIAN AID activists carrying giant inflatable bananas lobbied EC Agricultural Ministers when they visited Cambridge last Sunday. They were highlighting the plight of Caribbean banana producers In the face of EC competition.

CCBI birthday

THE British Council of Churches, now relaunched as the Council of Churches for Britain and Ireland (CCBI), celebrated Its 50th anniversary last week as hundreds packed St John's church in Waterloo, London, to hear CCBI General Secretary the Rev John Reardon give praise for the "Important witness to Churches around the world" borne by the CCBI.

Len knighted
