Women and the media

Catholic *omen *ere urged last week to plas a greater part in the community and to use the media to publicise the Christian point of view.

The call came from Bishop James McGuiness of Nottingham, speaking at the annual general meeting of the local branch of the Catholic Women's League, held in the Cathedral Hall complex.

Bishop MeGuiness accepted a cheque for 1180 for the education of future priests.

Extension of courts' powers criticised

The National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders has criticised proposals that the right to take fingerprints, impost an attendance centre order or make a community service order should be extended to nonimprisonable offences.
