THE SOCIETY of St Pius X (SSPX) was expected to ordain three priests in Germany this week.
The move was described as a “provocation” by Bishop Gerhard Ludwig Müller, who said such ceremonies should only proceed with “clear direction and permission from the Pope”. The SSPX, an estranged group, is currently in negotiations with Rome about returning to full communion.
