A Church open to helpful criticism

THERE IS NOTHING "undignified" about pninting criticism of the Catholic Church, as Freda Marlin, in last week's letters page suggests.

On the contrary, it is good for every institution to be open to debate and argument and the Church is no exception. Dialogue is a necessary element of progress. Too few among us seem ready to listen to diversified viewpoints.

I for one applaud the Catholic Herald's open position on issues which are relevant to all Catholics.
