A 'gold' for Abbot Parry

THE RIGHT Reverend David Parry OSB right who was honoured last week by a gathering of Abbots from around the world, at St Augustine's Abbey, Ramsgate, on the occasion of his priestly golden jubilee.

He was for many years headmaster of his Abbey's St Augustine College. becoming Abbot in 1957.

He became Abbot Visitor of the English Province in 1960, now called the English Language province. There are now five independent monasteries in Britain, including one house of nuns in Fernharn, as well as the monks in Ramsgate, Prinknesh, Phi warden and Farnborough.

In the United States Abbott Parry is responsible for the monastery of Christ in the desert, New Mexico, as well as monasteries in Australia, South Africa and the Philippines.
