MR ROBIN HOOD was this week appointed administrator Catholic Fund for of the Overseas Development, the overseas aid agency of the Bishops Conference of England and Wales. Mr Hood said he was honoured to have been appointed to Cafod, which hadrown from small beginnings to be a national Catholic aid organisation. Mr Hood said however that he did not feel that CAFOD should fund projects in underprivileged areas of Britain and that to do so would be outside CA FOD's mandate. "We do not feel it is up to us to move into home projects although we realise their need for support," he said. Mr Hood will, however, be discussing the matter with Bishop Cleary, president of the Catholic Commission for Racial Justice. Mr flood, 53, replaces Mr Noel Charles, who died in June. Educated at Downside, and after war service in the Household Cavalry, Mr Hood spent 14 years in the City of London in merchant banking and stockbroking. In 1964 he joined the Catholic Housing Aid Society cu working closely executive treasurer, wking closely with Fr Casey, now Bishop of Galway. After assisting in the setting up of the Centre, a Shelter Housing Aid Centre, a Shelter Housing Aid joint Shelter and CHAS venture, he left to take up his appointment as Head of Projects with Cafod.
