FASCISTS SPOIL SPAIN MEETING

Some of the supporters of Nationalist Spain packed Chelsea Town Hall on Wednesday, November 23 to hear Alfred Denville, M.P., speak on Spain: The Issue for Civilisation.

Lord Redesdale was in the chair.

Mr. Denville told of his visit to Spain this year, of the disgust of British residents in Franco's Spain, residents who had lived in Spain long before the outbreak of war, but had not been forced to leave like British residents in the Red areas, at the distortion of Spanish news by the English Press and radio.

What About Gibraltar's Bishop?

He described some of the bestialities committed by Government forces, evidence for which he had seen in the towns recaptured by the Nationalists. He could not understand why " the British public must be so eager to credit the tales brought back by some Anglican clergy after a few days' visit to the Red capitals, but refuse to take notice of the repeated testimonies made against the Government side by an Anglican bishop living on the spot, the Bishop of Gibraltar."

Later in his talk, after some anti-Jew interruptions, Mr. Denville took occasion to protest against distribution by Fascists at the doors •of Chelsea Town Hall of antiJewish leaflets.
