FORCES CLUB FOR BARNES

Through the enterprise of its parish priest, the Rev. F. G. Ryan, Barnes is soon to have a club for soldiers who pass through the town or who may be billeted in the vicinity.
Fr. Ryan plans to use the hall of his former presbytery, 77, Castelnau, for the purpose, and it is hoped to open the club on August 1 and to keep it open nightly. It will be provided with a rest-room contaming a billiards table and a gramophone, and refreshments will be obtainable. A committee of helpers is being formed.
The old presbytery has been empty since May, when Fr. Ryan moved into the adjoining house, which was formerly the property of an ex-Mayor of Barnes. In January it was announced that a new church would be built on the site of the old presbytery. The plans, however, were temporarily postponed in May owing to the difficulty of obtaining building materials in war-time.
