SAINT-IN-WAITING Padre Pio (pictured below) was gifted in many ways, but none more so than in his practice of bi-location, the handy knack of appearing in two places at the same time.
So it comes as no surprise to learn that his beatification in May will now take place in two locations simultaneously. A giant video screen outside the Lateran Basilica will relay the ceremony live from St Peter's Square. After celebrating Mass in the Square the Pope will be transported to the Lateran Basilica to say the Regina Coeli with pilgrims.
The Vatican and Rome's civil authorities arrived at this solution when they realised that such was their devotion, over a million Pio pilgrims planned to pitch up for the ceremony, with or without a ticket.
