Which parts of the Gospel can we change if any?

TAMPERING WITH the Word of the Lord to change the meaning of the text of Holy Scripture, as Mr Derrick points out (Catholic Herald, Letters, 15 March), is assuredly misconceived, but I would suggest that it is possible to explain and develop the meaning by so doing.
When I was a reader at Mass, I always added to St Paul's words (in various contexts), "and so my brothers, I exhort you..." quite simply "and sisters". Christopher Buckingham Canterbury Kent
MR DERRICK Is quite correct in his letter headed "Stop tampering with the words of the Gospel".
As far as the pulpit is concerned these days, Hell is definitely non-U; in fact, quite out of bounds. Would that it were!
