BEETHOVEN'S MASS StR,-I disa g ree profoundly with the opinion expressed in

Philip Burre's letter regarding Beethoven's Mass. The " Missa Solemnie " in D by Beethoven, together with Bach's B Minor Mass, Mozart's Requiem, and others by Schubert and Gounod, are without doubt great musically, but are impos sible liturgically. We must be practical. Your correspondent's views seem to he opposed to the Liturgical Movement and to Pius X's Moto Proprio in particular. I would advise him to study this document carefully. GEORGE F. TULL.
