Prophesies " Osservatore"

The Soviet's opposition to the conclusion of a defensive alliance between the Scandinavian States is, according to the Osservatore Romano, a new Indication of the will to expansion of Soviet Russia in Northern Europe.

" The attitude of Moscow's Government fully confirms, nine days after the signing of the peace treaty between Finland and Russia, that Russia intends not only to impose her will upon Finland, but seeks still to create difficulties in Sweden and Norway," states the Vatican paper. " An official communique on this subject lets it be clearly understood that all defensive measures which may be taken later on by Sweden and Norway will be regarded by Russia as ' provocations.' This is not surprising, and might well have been foreseen, since no prophet Is needed to foresee the future development of events and understand the menaces that every day accumulate for the Scandinavian countries."
