C.E.G. IN HYDE PARK

Osservatore Romano has devoted some space to praise that " mysterious channel of grace," Father McNabb, who speaks for the C.E.G. in Hyde Park.

May I, a humble Catholic "listener " at these meetings for over 20 years, express my tremendous admiration for the lay men and women speakers? Theirs is not their whole-time job. They have their business and family anxieties. Of leisure time they have little left Added to these unpleasant things they have to face year after year the insincere mere " tripper up " type of man in the audience; the bombastic, ignorant "now I've got you " type; the disturbing " butting in " type of Catholic, to say nothing of the non-listening "Social meeting" type. With all these he or she puts up with a most Chrietlike patience, to say nothing of humour.

Future generations may count saints, if not martyrs, among them. Would to heaven I may reach heaven clutching on to their skirts or coat tails!

"HONOR DEW."
