Vatican Paper Awards Palm for Absurdity

" The Austrian Catholic newspaper Reichspost says the Austrian Catholics' vote for Hitler was unconditional, while the very Catholic Avvenire d'ltalia said it was not," writes the Regime Fascista, a Fascist mouthpiece.

After a gibe against " the infallible Osservatore Romano," the Regime Fascista writes, "it seems to us that our Catholics and the Catholics in Austria are having a competition to see who can be the most ridiculous."

" It is not necessary to be infallible," the Osservutore tartly observes, " to see who wins in this competition in absurdity.

" The Reichspost ceased to be the organ of the Austrian Catholics on the day that Austria was annexed to Germany . . . "
