New youth leader for Westminster
THE ARCHDIOCESE of Westminster’s Agency for Evangelisation has appointed a youth director to encourage greater participation by young people in parish life.
David Burke, a former school chaplain and retreat leader at Damascus House in north London, will become the first director of youth ministry when he takes up his role later in the year. Among his responsibilities will be the development of parish-based youth groups and the overall management of Westminster youth centres such as SPEC and SPECEast.
Until his appointment Mr Burke was lay port chaplain in Hull, and has also worked as a parish youth worker in Enfield and Coventry; he has a postgraduate certificate in youth and community work from Brunel University and an MA in Pastoral Theology from Heythrop College, London.
“I’m delighted to be back working in a place I consider to be home,” he said.
