Korean General and his family are converted

Major-General Joachim Shin, commander of the Korean Marine Corps, has been received into the Church with his wife and four children.

General Shin, Mrs. Shin—who took the name Anna—and their three sons and daughters were baptised by Fr. Augustine You in the chapel of the Maryknoll Sisters in Pusan. Dr. John Chang, former Prime Minister of Korea, was their godfather.

Fr. You, a chaplain in the Marine Corps. instructed General Shin. and the Sisters of Perpetual Help, a Korean congregation founded by the Maryknoll Sisters in Pyongyang before the Pacific war, instructed Mrs. Shin and the children.
