BURMA DOES NOT WANT FOREIGN MISSIONARIES

RANGOON.

The Burmese Government has informed the British, American and other Embassies and Consulates here that its policy does not encourage the expansion of Christian missionary work in Burma.

Apart from foreign missionaries already in Burma, the Government indicated it would prefer Burmese Christians to take over the work in future.

This places missionary work on the same basis as business, in which the Government prefers Burmese rather than foreigners to take posts as they become vacant.
