Nottingham has 76 Students for the Priesthood

From Our Own Correspondent

" At the moment we have 76 boys and young men preparing "for the priesthood in our colleges and seminaries. A further 12 to 16 are making application to be accepted in the present year," says Mgr. Ellis. Bishop of Nottingham, in his annual letter on the subject of the Diocese I of Nottingham Ecclesiastical Education Fund.

To this, says the Bishop. £3,434 was subscribed during 1947. Although this total is a little less than that subscribed in the previous year, he declares that there has been no real falling off, since at the same time, his priests and people have been giving most generously to the appeal for the new Diocesan Seminary.

The Bishop concludes his letter by suggesting that Catholic fathers and mothers shall ask Almighty God to grant them the crowning blessing of their marriage. one of their sons a priest of God and he also stresses the urgent need of more vocations to the religious orders of women.
