Miners will fly off into the sunshine

Travel agencies visiting mining centres in Lancashire and North Wales arc finding that there is a great keenness among the many Catholics to visit Ireland. Italy and other Catholic countries.

The National Coal Board recently announced that a holiday finance scheme to enable miners and their families to go abroad—many of them for the first time — has been arranged.

In Lancashire and North Wales the Coal Board and the industry's welfare organisation are sponsoring the 15-day holiday scheme whereby miners will pay for their trips by instalments starting now.

Manchester, convenient for most of the mining areas, will be the starting point for these holidays. An Italian agency plans a flying. boat service for miners and their families.
